Job Description:

As an HGV Fitter at HCL Fleet Services, you will play a key role in maintaining and repairing the company's fleet, including heavy goods vehicles, trailers, and vacuum tankers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with Plant equipment, Whale parts, and Vacuum Tankers, ensuring that they are well-maintained and repaired according to company standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Vehicle Repairs: Perform both major and minor repairs on HGVs, trailers, and related equipment, focusing on Plant and Vacuum Tankers.

Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections, tyre rotations, oil changes, and other preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the fleet's safety and reliability.

Plant & Vacuum Tanker Maintenance: Maintain and repair Whale parts and Vacuum Tankers, including replacing pumps, valves, and hydraulic systems, to ensure peak performance.

Fault Diagnosis: Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic issues in Plant and Vacuum Tanker equipment using diagnostic tools and techniques.

Workshop Maintenance: Ensure that the workshop is kept clean and organised, maintaining a safe work environment and managing the inventory of necessary parts and tools.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with other repair teams to plan and execute repairs efficiently, minimising vehicle downtime.

Customer Support: Provide high-quality repair services to both in-house and external clients, delivering workmanship that meets the company’s standards of excellence.

Mentorship: Support and guide trainees and junior team members, helping them develop their skills in line with company standards.

Documentation: Keep detailed records of maintenance tasks, repairs, and parts used for each vehicle, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

• Proven experience in HGV maintenance and repairs, including Plant machinery, Whale parts, and Vacuum Tankers.

• Knowledge of diagnostic tools and techniques for identifying mechanical and hydraulic issues.

• Relevant qualifications in HGV or vehicle maintenance and repair (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

• Commitment to safety and compliance with industry regulations.

• Excellent communication skills for effective team collaboration.

• A valid driver's licence is preferred.
