Job Description:

As an HGV Mechanic at HCL Fleet Services, your role will be integral in maintaining, repairing, and preparing heavy and light commercial vehicles for various purposes. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety, efficiency, and compliance of our vehicles with current legislation. Your duties will encompass:

Key Responsibilities:

Vehicle Repairs: Safely and efficiently repair a wide range of heavy and light commercial vehicles in accordance with current legislation and industry standards.

Routine Maintenance: Perform routine vehicle maintenance to DVSA standards, ensuring the vehicles are in top condition.

MOT Preparation: Prepare and present vehicles and trailers for annual MOT inspections, ensuring they meet all requirements and pass inspections.

Health and Safety: Adhere to strict health and safety requirements at all times, maintaining good housekeeping routines to meet safety obligations.

Documentation: Complete all necessary paperwork to a high standard, documenting work performed, inspections, and repairs accurately.

Mechanical Repairs: Perform mechanical repairs, including but not limited to engines, axles, and clutches, with precision and expertise.

Safety Equipment: Utilize all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary to ensure a safe working environment.

Communication: Effectively communicate with the Workshop Manager and other team members to coordinate repairs and ensure smooth operations.

Fault Diagnosis: Diagnose and rectify fault findings in vehicles, utilizing your technical skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic with a strong background in commercial vehicle maintenance.
• An HGV license is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
• Ability to work unsupervised and complete necessary documentation accurately.
• Excellent mechanical skills, including engine, axle, and clutch repairs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
