Plant Operations Manager

Reporting To

Operations Director/Managing Director

Role Description

The Plant Operations Manager will have full responsibility for the below duties. 

  • Promoting safe working practices and a positive safety culture throughout the site.
  • Maintaining compliance with waste management licences, consents, and other statutory requirements.
  • Ensuring effective planning, execution and recording of processing activities and material movements.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Optimisation of work patterns and resources.
  • Ensuring effective plant maintenance, compliance with inspection regimes and critical spares inventory.
  • Staff induction and performance appraisal.
  • Ensuring staff training and competency requirements are identified, delivered, and maintained

  • Strong leadership and excellent interpersonal skills to build high performing teams.
  • An analytical mindset with a high level of numeracy and literacy.
  • Extensive knowledge of plant operations.
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Negotiation and relationship management skills with colleagues, suppliers, customers and regulators.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload for self and team.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Operational management experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Experience within waste management and processing sector
  • Must have WAMITAB / COTC Level 4 or be willing to be trained (NVQ Level 4) to allow you to be the site permit holder.
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualified would be advantageous.
